Improving treatment engagement for personality disorder

Findings and implications

  • A recent meta-analysis of 669 studies found the average rate of psychotherapy non-completion was 20%, with the highest rates for people with personality disorder (26%) in comparison to other diagnostic groups (Swift & Greenberg, 2012) •
  • Another meta-analysis found that interventions to increase attendance at psychotherapy have been found to be moderately effective (Oldham et al., 2012)
