Vocational stroke rehabilitation

People of working age who have a stroke.

• Access to Vocational Rehabilitation (VR) services varies considerably. People with more visible symptoms get most support, whilst those with milder symptoms or ‘hidden disability’ such as visual or cognitive problems are missed

• All stroke survivors need early support and advice to help prevent job loss, but some need ongoing support or input later in recovery, at which stage people can find it difficult to re-access services

• Stroke service providers rarely measure work outcomes.
